Why book with us?
There is a wide choice of accommodation at Vera Playa - but this is why we believe you would be sensible to book one of our apartments for your holiday:
1. Good orientation to the sun
Especially in winter it is vital to have an apartment which gets good sun. Many apartments at Vera Playa get no sun at all or very little sun in winter due to poor orientation or being in the shadow of other buildings when the sun is low. Our apartments get good sun all year - our east facing one bedroom apartment gets earlier sun in the mornings and loses it earlier in the afternoon (and gets some shade from lunchtime onwards which is very welcome in summer). Our south facing one bedroom apartment gets sun slightly later in the morning but then gets solid sun with little or no shade until late afternoon - great in autumn, winter and spring but very hot in summer sometimes. Our two bedroom apartment is open to both the south and west and gets great sun practically through to sunset - great for outside dining in late spring, summer and early autumn. Our advice: whether you book with us or not, seek assurances about the orientation of the apartment you are booking and how much sun it gets at the time of year you are going!2. Good protection and ventilation
All our apartments have sliding mosquito screens fitted. These are essential at Vera Playa (and don't believe anyone who tells you they aren't !) but many, probably most, rental apartments do not have them fitted. Whilst there are some times when mozzies are not a problem, often they are - which is why the urbanizacions spray against them at regular intervals.All our apartments have rejas (security bars/sliding security gates) - this is not because Vera Playa is a hotbed of crime, it isn't, but it does mean that (a) when you leave your apartment you know it is secure and (b) you can have windows wide open at night for maximum ventilation with security - useful at most times of the year and essential in summer when it is seriously hot. (In apartments without mosquito screens you have to keep the windows closed at night - pretty unbearable when hot - and without rejas you have to have the shutters down - which itself is stifling at night in summer). We don't have air conditioning fitted because it is expensive to install and to run and would put up our prices considerably and, frankly, it isn't needed except in late July/August - and even then good ventilation with open windows and powerful fans is effective and many people prefer it to the somewhat stifling effects of sleeping with aircon on. Aircon is of no use to you when you are outside - which in high summer you will be nearly all the time. Our advice: before you book check whether the apartment you are booking has got fly/mosquito screens and whether windows can be left open for ventilation without admitting either mosquitoes or burglars!
3. Well equipped and high quality
We have ensured that our apartments have all the equipment, major and
minor, you are likely to need. Most importantly every living room and
bedroom has a fan - either a ceiling mounted fan or an even more powerful
floor mounted fan. These can even be used out on the terrace in high summer
- most refreshing! (Some apartments at Vera Playa have no fans at all
- can you believe it! - or they only have one, quite often just a table
mounted fan).
Our apartments have large fridges with separate freezers, automatic washing
machines, full hob and full fan-assisted ovens. In addition, our one bedroom
apartments also each have a microwave oven. All apartments have kettles
and toasters (it is most unusual for apartments at Vera Playa to have
kettles and many do not have toasters).
Our apartments have dining tables and chairs inside and out and we provide
two sunbeds with adjustable headrests at each apartment.
Each apartment has either a large extending sunblind or a large sun umbrella
(The one bed apartments have two umbrellas each, one large, one medium).
All apartments have small colour TVs which can get Spanish and various
continental channels and BBC World.
They also have small hi-fi systems which get FM radio (local English station
Spectrum on 92.6) and have a CD player and tape cassette player.
There is a selection of books in each apartment.
All our apartments are well furnished - the one bedrom apartments each
have two sofas, the two bed has one large sofa and a matching large easy
chair - and they have the finishing touches which make a home a home -
nice pictures, ornaments/art objects, good lighting etc.
All our apartments have their own private dining/sun terraces and private
gardens of comfortable size - some urbanizacions/apartments have tiny
balconies/terraces and no gardens - if they are badly oriented to the
sun as well you have may have a problem finding somewhere to sunbathe.
From November to April we provide fan heaters - one for each bedroom and
one for each living room - evenings can get chilly, especially from December
to March (electricity included in rental). Some apartments have no heaters
for winter. Our advice: Before booking make sure the apartment
you are considering has all the equipment you will need to have a comfortable
holiday - and if you are going in winter, make sure it has heaters because
you will need them!
4. Personal service
Some of the companies and letting agencies at Vera Playa have dozens or even hundreds of apartments on their books - some, like us, are very selective about which apartments they take on, others have little or no interest or control over the standards or furnishings/equipment of the apartments they offer. When we are not at Vera Playa ourselves our caretakers provide the same level of personal care and attention that we do. Virtually no property letting agency at Vera Playa irons bed linen. We, or our caretakers, do. Even if you are arriving in the middle of the night (a small supplementary charge applies for very late/very early arrivals and departures), we or our caretakers will meet you at the gate and take you to the apartment , explain things, make sure you are settled in etc - many property letting agencies just give you a key and point you in the right general direction.5. Extras included
There are no extras when you book with us. When you arrive you will find some wine, milk and bottled water so you can have an immediate drink when you arrive. We generally have a private covered parking space available for your car - we make no extra charge for this (if not there is plenty of free uncovered parking within the urbanizacion). It is most unusual for covered parking to be included and on some urbanizacions you have to leave your car in the public street. Use of the community facilities is included - Bahia de Vera has excellent pools including a properly heated indoor pool (which is essential from November to March). Only Bahia de Vera, Vera Natura and Torrema Natura have covered/heated pools and only Bahia de Vera's has both solar and heatpump heating. Bahia de Vera is the only urbanizacion which provides sunbeds for use in the area of the outdoor pool. There are also thatched "umbrellas" to escape the sun - another exclusive to Bahia de Vera. There is a tennis and volleyball court and a petanque (boules) court.6. Good clients
We virtually never get bad clients. You, no doubt would be a good client too, so why does this matter to you? Well simply because we furnish and equip our apartments as if they were for us, to be comfortable and homely and in the expectation that our clients will take as much care of the apartment and its furniture, equipment and contents as we would ourselves. We find that they do. And future clients benefit because things are well looked after, not knocked around etc. Part of the reason for us having good clients is obviously because the apartments are nice and partly because we require a key/security deposit of £100 which we hold till after their stay and we require clients to sign up to detailed Booking Conditions. Those requirements do, no doubt, mean that potential clients who might not be the sort we like to have are put off coming to us. We benefit and you benefit from this. We also have a high level of repeat bookings.So, are you ready to book?
